Overwatch’s Unvaulted Battle Passes returned on October 6, 2026. They progress alongside the current pass, but exclude some original rewards. Check the contents before buying.

If you remember a September launch announcement, you did not imagine it. Blizzard initially planned its legacy-pass system for the Season 4 midseason update, then postponed it to the October 6 start of Season 5 for additional quality assurance. The delay was a change of release date, not a cancellation; this guide reflects the feature’s status on October 22.
That timeline matters when searching for help. An older preview describing what is “coming” may predate the launch, while an older-season reward list may describe the original pass rather than its returning version. Check the date and whether a page discusses the live system before using it as a shopping list. Seasonal labels alone are poor identifiers when announcements span different years.
The October 6 patch notes direct players to Home, then Battle Passes, then Legacy Pass. You must own and activate a legacy pass to earn its rewards. The shop’s Unvaulted tab offers passes from Seasons 1–15, while previously purchased passes retain their progress when eligible. A locked entry is not a promise that you can start it immediately: additional passes become available later.
The 2026 Season 4 pass was excluded at launch until midseason. That is separate from the original Season 4. Match the year and rewards, not just the season number.
Previous Free-track progress counts: acquiring its Unvaulted Pass unlocks eligible Premium rewards through your existing progress. Match XP advances the current pass and one active Unvaulted Pass together. Completing the latter automatically selects the next available pass unless you choose another. Acquired Unvaulted Passes remain permanently available.
Unvaulting is separate from August’s revamp. The current pass retains 80 tiers: an introductory track, five selectable tracks and a final track. You can switch active tracks to change reward order; Blizzard says the overall completion workload has not increased.

The Premium version also introduced one Tier Hack: a way to replace an end-of-track skin with a Legendary skin from a curated selection. It is not permission to choose any skin in Overwatch. The revamp announcement does not establish that this benefit applies to an Unvaulted Pass. Treat the current-pass offer and the legacy-pass offer as separate purchases with separate contents.

If your gaming time is already split, decide which reward matters most before choosing a track. For players also returning to Fortnite this month, our Fortnitemares gameplay guide covers that event’s changing match rules. Do not let two seasonal menus make the decision for you: pick the game and goal you want to spend time on.
Blizzard’s Mythic Shop explainer identifies Mythic Prisms as the currency for Mythic unlocks, distinct from Overwatch Coins and Credits. It also describes choosing a base skin and additional customization levels separately. That is a different purchase decision from collecting ordinary pass cosmetics. An old screenshot featuring a Mythic does not tell you what acquiring its revised pass grants today.
Before spending on a Mythic, inspect its current Shop listing, available levels and Prism requirements. Decide whether you want the base appearance or additional options; do not assume the first unlock represents every pictured customization. The original Shop explainer is useful for understanding the system, but it is not a current inventory or regional price list. This guide does not infer today’s availability from that older announcement.

The official pages reviewed do not establish one current Unvaulted Pass price for every account or region. They also do not provide a complete, dated schedule for every locked entry. Check the relevant live listing rather than treating either omission as a discount, a guaranteed release date or a reason to hurry. These are explanations of published rules, not a hands-on test of progression speed or account-specific offers.
