PEAK’s console crossplay includes Steam friends, but there is no cross-save. The October 22, 2026 console launch lets friends climb together without choosing the same hardware. Before buying, check your online access and choose where you want to keep playing.

The important change is who can join your group. Team PEAK’s PlayStation announcement confirms crossplay with up to three friends on other platforms. The PS5 version also includes the content updates, biomes and items added since the original release. This is a new way into an established co-op game, rather than a reason for an existing group to abandon its PCs.
Landfall’s FAQ still carries its older “Steam-friends only” wording in the general PEAK answers. Follow its console section instead: that explicitly confirms cross-platform play.

Crossplay answers “Can we play together?” Cross-save answers “Can I carry my progress over?” PEAK has no cross-save: do not expect PC progress to transfer.
Think about the decision in two parts. First, choose the device you actually want to use for most sessions: perhaps the one already connected to your preferred screen, or the one you can use without sharing a room. Then decide whether a second purchase still has value to you on its own. Convenience can justify it; the expectation of one continuous profile should not.
For a new player, this is mostly a choice to make before investing time. For an existing player, write down what you want from switching hardware. Is the goal a more comfortable seat, a different controller, or simply joining a particular friend? Those are different needs, and they do not automatically point to buying another copy.
Save restrictions are worth checking game by game. Our Final Fantasy Resonance release guide covers another platform-specific save caveat; do not assume two games handle a second device the same way.
Landfall’s FAQ says a console online subscription is needed to play with others; solo offline play does not need one. Treat the game price and access to online play as separate checks. Having enough store credit for the game is not the same as being ready for the group’s session.
Subscription access is also different from the game being included in a subscription library. This guide does not establish PEAK’s inclusion in Game Pass or PlayStation Plus catalogs. Look for the game itself in your plan’s current catalog before treating a membership as a substitute for buying it. If you only want one evening with friends, compare the full checkout cost and renewal terms, not just an introductory offer.

The Steam description emphasizes helping teammates up ledges, placing climbing aids and managing limited stamina. That makes a little group planning more useful than rushing straight into the first climb. The following is a preparation checklist, not a tested walkthrough of the console invitation menus.

The official material reviewed here does not establish the exact cross-platform invitation sequence, whether it requires an additional account, or how every console’s voice-chat options interact. Do not follow guessed menu paths or enter account credentials into an unofficial “crossplay activation” site. Use the instructions shown in the game and official support if something is unclear.
This is an explanation of announced features, not a hands-on review. It cannot confirm launch-day server reliability, performance on each console or the time a download becomes playable in your region. If one of those details decides your purchase, wait for it to be verified rather than assuming the shared release date guarantees an identical experience everywhere.
The practical buying test is simple: pick your preferred device, confirm the complete cost of joining friends, and make sure the group is available. If you are undecided, ask the friend organizing the session to help with setup before you commit. That conversation is more useful than buying first and troubleshooting under time pressure.
