World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, 2026, at 23:00 UTC, which is November 5 in central Europe and much of Asia. The new take on original Azeroth is included with World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time access, but the Skyborne race costs extra. Its experimental controller option is for the computer version, not an announced Xbox console release.

Blizzard’s latest launch table gives one simultaneous opening, rather than local midnight in every country. On November 4, that is 3 p.m. PST in Los Angeles, 8 p.m. BRT in São Paulo and 11 p.m. GMT in London. On November 5, it is midnight CET in Paris and Berlin, 7 a.m. CST in Taiwan, 8 a.m. KST in South Korea and 10 a.m. AEDT in Sydney.
Dubai’s opening is 3 a.m. on November 5; Tokyo’s is 8 a.m. JST. These are conversions from 23:00 UTC, so use the local calendar date when arranging a group session.

The essential purchase decision is whether you need an upgrade at all. An active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time already provides the main Forever experience; buying a pack is not the entry ticket for every player. However, access to the Skyborne race and its Zephras Isle starting experience requires the Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher edition.
Regional checkout prices are not quoted here because a reliable like-for-like local price list was not verified. Compare the signed-in Battle.net total in your own currency and check whether it is a one-time upgrade or recurring subscription. Existing subscribers who do not want Skyborne can start without paying for these packs; players considering Epic should compare its included month with the cost of Game Time they would otherwise buy.
The friend codes are temporary access, not additional permanent copies of the game. Blizzard limits them to eligible invitees during the November 4–11 launch window and excludes gift purchases from the qualifying-purchase offer. Check those conditions before treating a pack as a way to bring several friends along.

Forever builds outward from the original level 1–60 world rather than asking returning players to catch up with every later expansion. Blizzard describes more than 1,000 new quests and new or reworked locations including Mount Hyjal, Shen’dralas, the Riverglades and Zephras Isle. That makes exploration and leveling central to the proposition, not simply a shortcut to an existing endgame.
Nine new five-player dungeons are spread across levels 13–60, so the additions are not reserved for maximum-level characters. Hall of Thanes begins at levels 13–18 beneath Ironforge, while Ruins of Lordaeron covers 15–20 above the Undercity. Their locations matter: the opposite faction must reach hostile territory, so having an eligible group does not remove the journey to the entrance.
Later examples include City of Dalaran at levels 28–33, with faction-specific attunement quests, and Shaper’s Terrace at 58–60 in Un’Goro Crater. These are reasons to plan a leveling route with friends instead of treating every dungeon as an immediate launch-night activity. Blizzard schedules the first raid opening for December 9, separating the initial leveling period from those level-60 group goals.

Blizzard’s starter guide describes gamepad support as being in a beta state, while Xbox Wire’s November 2 preview shows the actual Options checkbox as Gamepad (Alpha). Both descriptions warrant caution rather than a promise of finished controller parity. Enable that setting to use the mapped interface; triggers and bumpers switch between action sets, and holding the right stick opens a ping menu.
Xbox Wire also describes running the Windows version through Battle.net on a ROG Xbox Ally, while explicitly noting that the handheld setup is not officially supported yet. That is a PC handheld example, not confirmation of an Xbox Series X|S edition. Keep a keyboard available for communication and setup, and do not buy a handheld solely on the assumption that this preview guarantees your preferred performance or controls.
Use the Battle.net desktop app, select World of Warcraft, then select World of Warcraft: Forever in the Game Version menu before installing. If you have multiple World of Warcraft accounts, check the account dropdown as well: the right game version on the wrong account can still leave you without the entitlement you intended to use. Blizzard provides Windows and Mac clients; use the current Battle.net requirements for the operating system you actually own.
Be particularly careful with Blizzard’s separate GPU compatibility article. Its examples of cards that support the necessary graphics feature are explicitly below the game’s minimum requirements, so an architecture appearing on that list is not a recommendation to buy that card. Check the full minimum specification, available storage and the launcher’s current download estimate before launch, rather than treating an older Classic installation as proof that this version will run well.
Forever replaces the traditional realm-selection choice with rulesets, but it does not remove grouping boundaries. Normal, PvP, Roleplay and Roleplay-PvP offer different approaches to combat and community, while Hardcore is planned for later. Dungeon and raid groups must share a ruleset, and Horde and Alliance remain separate for grouping; players cannot freely move an existing character between rulesets.
Agree on a faction and ruleset before reserving or creating characters. The PvP ruleset also limits your characters there to one faction, so an early choice affects subsequent characters. For multilingual groups, Blizzard offers a Preferred Online Language setting under System’s Languages and Social options; it applies across the account and has a 24-hour change cooldown.
Check the WoW account and region receiving your purchase, then separate three things: ordinary game access, Skyborne access and any time-limited extra. Blizzard also distinguishes benefits for Forever from items for modern World of Warcraft, such as the housing decor. For another example of membership access differing from extras, the VOID/BREAKER launch breakdown explains its separate Game Pass and owner-bonus rules.
For an active subscriber curious about a new version of the original world, trying the ordinary races first is the lowest-commitment choice. Skyborne is a specific paid character option, while the larger collection makes sense only if its additional Warcraft III content is something you want. Players who mainly want a fully supported handheld experience should wait for clearer support and post-launch evidence.
This is a guide to verified announcements and access conditions, not a hands-on review. Launch queues, actual frame rates and long-term balance remain untested here. Set up your account and group in advance, but avoid making the first evening depend on uninterrupted server access.
