The Coalition has announced a free RAAM multiplayer character for Gears of War: E-Day players who log in on November 7, 2026. The gift sits alongside a two-week event, while Season 2: Legacy starts December 1. Check your existing game access before buying an edition or cosmetic upgrade for the celebration.

The announced requirement is to log in. The birthday post does not add a purchase, challenge or match-completion requirement, and it does not specify a claim deadline. It also gives no unlock hour or time zone, so November 7 should not be read as a confirmed midnight launch in every country. If you check early and the gift is absent, consult the current in-game notice before treating it as a failed entitlement.

The anniversary playlists include Guardian in Versus and For the Queen in Horde Siege. The latter disables the supply cache. In the normal Horde Siege rules, caches let players spend shared Energy on equipment, weapons and Squad Perk upgrades. That makes the disabled cache a practical reason to review your starting equipment with friends before entering the event.
The Coalition's multiplayer guide describes four launch classes: Assault, Breacher, Marksman and Medic. Each has its own starting loadout and Tactical Gear. Our advice is to choose roles around the equipment you already know how to use, especially if you have been away since launch. Do not build a plan that depends on a later cache purchase, and read the event's current modifiers before selecting difficulty.

If your group needs a refresher, the official guide points to Boot Camp for controls and Combat Training for experimenting with weapons; Combat Training supports four-player co-op. Run a practice session first if anyone needs time to get comfortable before an event playlist.
Gears of War: E-Day is available on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC through the Microsoft Store and Steam. Xbox's current product FAQ lists it in Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Start with the library and subscription you already have: someone who can already launch the game does not need a second copy simply because an anniversary character has been announced.
These are US prices in the official Xbox FAQ, checked November 7; local currencies, taxes, sales and account-specific offers can differ. Steam's US listing also showed US$69.99 for Standard, plus a US$30 Premium upgrade. Compare the signed-in checkout total and exact package contents. For a returning player interested only in RAAM and the event, paying extra for a cosmetic bundle has no stated claim benefit.
On Xbox consoles, the store says online multiplayer requires Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate. That membership requirement is separate from owning the base game; Essential or Premium should not be assumed to include this title in their catalog. PC players should read their own platform's requirements rather than applying a console subscription warning to Steam.
Xbox Play Anywhere covers the eligible Xbox Store purchase across console and PC. A Steam listing is a separate purchase route, so check the storefront named on any digital code before paying. For changes affecting the PC launcher, see our Xbox app rollout and access checks. A refreshed app interface does not by itself establish a game license.

For a fresh PC installation, Steam lists 115 GB of available storage and requires an SSD. Its minimum specification includes 12 GB RAM, DirectX 12 and a hardware-ray-tracing-capable GPU. Steam also lists Easy Anti-Cheat, and the product description requires a Microsoft account. Check the full CPU, GPU and Windows requirements against your machine. The 115 GB figure is a base-game requirement, not a verified download size for this anniversary update.
Season 2 begins December 1, with returning maps, modes and character skins planned. The preview includes Solemn Memories Dom, based on his suit in the photograph with Maria from Gears of War 2. No acquisition method for that skin is given in the birthday announcement, so do not assume it comes with the free RAAM gift or a particular paid pack.
The broader cosmetic system also needs care: the official multiplayer guide says there is no battle pass and most customization can be earned, while Premium Edition Seasonal Customization Packs are paid exceptions. That general policy does not identify the price or unlock path of every future item. Wait for the specific item description before purchasing Premium for one advertised character.
The key missing details are the gift's precise unlock time and expiry, the event's exact closing timestamp, and the full Season 2 content and acquisition list. The November 6 post says the two-week event started that week; it does not establish November 7 as its first day. Use the live event notice for scheduling, and avoid calculating a guaranteed closing date from the birthday alone.
For existing players, the sensible first step is a login and a check of the available playlists. New buyers should decide whether they want the campaign and multiplayer at the current price, rather than letting one cosmetic dictate the purchase. This guide is based on official announcements and store listings, not hands-on testing of the anniversary build or its server performance.
