Grand Theft Auto VI preloading begins on 10 November 2026, with different clocks for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Prepare storage now, but check your purchase: boxed copies contain a download code, and an Ultimate Edition Upgrade does not include the base game.

Rockstar's dedicated preload FAQ separates the two consoles. PlayStation downloads open at local midnight on 10 November. Xbox downloads open at one worldwide moment: 00:00 GMT that day, equivalent to 00:00 UTC. For players in the Americas, that Xbox start falls on the previous evening.
These conversions apply to the Xbox download window, not the moment you can start playing. Rockstar describes the 19 November release as midnight local time on both platforms. The US PlayStation listing specifically shows 05:00 UTC on 19 November, which is midnight Eastern and 9 p.m. Pacific on 18 November. Use your own regional store countdown when planning launch night.

Rockstar says preloading needs up to 212GB of available space, depending on the device. Sony's PS5 preparation article is more specific: clear a minimum of 212GB. Follow that PS5 instruction rather than assuming every console downloads exactly the same number of bytes. Neither statement establishes the final installed footprint after future updates.
Check available storage before the window opens, then check the size displayed by your console when the download starts. Leave room for any additional installation requirement it reports. An almost-full drive can prevent preparation even if you have paid for the right edition; buying extras will not solve a storage shortage.
The physical Standard Edition contains a digital code and no disc. Rockstar expects retail shipping and pickup availability to begin on 12 November, while its store gives that date as an estimated shipping date. It is not a guarantee that your parcel will arrive that day. You can redeem the code once received, but a box order should not be treated as guaranteed access to the first digital preload window.
Check the platform and account region before opening or redeeming a code. Rockstar publishes specific PlayStation redemption regions, including a shared Saudi Arabia and UAE group, while the UK has its own group. PlayStation's own compatibility page lists Saudi Arabia and the UAE separately, so buy from your account's own country. Rockstar's general guidance ties redemption to your platform account's region. Reports that Xbox codes are not region-locked could not be confirmed on an official page, so verify the actual product and purchase terms before buying a code from another country.

For a price reference, the US PlayStation Store lists Standard at US$79.99 and Ultimate at US$99.99, checked on 6 November. Other storefronts and regions can differ. Compare the full purchase total and included content in your own account before paying.
The same bundle-versus-add-on distinction matters in our 007 First Light Starter Pack and upgrade guide. Check that the product description explicitly includes the full game whenever a cheaper upgrade sits beside complete editions.
The US PlayStation offer also includes a month of GTA+ with full digital Standard or Ultimate purchases by 19 November. It must be claimed on the purchasing account by 31 March 2027 and then renews monthly unless canceled. The separate Ultimate Edition Upgrade is excluded. Do not count that subscription bonus as free indefinitely or buy the add-on expecting to qualify.

The reviewed support pages do not give separate final download sizes for every console, a confirmed day-one patch size or an explanation of whether later updates fit within the quoted storage allowance. They also do not establish a PC release date or a launch entitlement through Game Pass or PlayStation Plus. Treat the currently listed console purchase as the confirmed route, not a promise about another platform or subscription.
This is a preparation guide based on official information, not hands-on testing. Rockstar's current gallery offers a detailed look at the world, but screenshots cannot settle performance or campaign quality. If those determine your purchase, waiting for reliable launch assessments is more useful than paying extra simply to preload.
