Lightyear Frontier reaches version 1.0 on November 4, 2026, bringing a story ending and more room for its mech-powered farms. Existing owners get the update without buying again, but returning Game Pass players should check their access before planning a reunion. Keeping an old farm and moving that farm between stores are also very different questions.

November 4 is the full-release date. Steam still shows March 19, 2024 because that was the Early Access launch; its separate leaving-Early-Access notice points to November 4, 2026. The Xbox listing likewise retains its Game Preview label at the November 3 check. Those older labels do not establish a different 1.0 date.
The October 26 FAQ gives only a broad window: European evening and US morning. No city, time zone or exact hour is specified. Check the official launch announcement before arranging a fixed session rather than relying on an unofficial countdown.

The price change happened on October 4, a month before 1.0. An old Early Access discount or announcement about an upcoming increase is not a current offer. Recheck your own storefront currency and checkout total rather than converting the US price into a local estimate.
There is one genuine deadline: the developer says the Pioneer's Bundle will be retired on November 4, while existing owners retain its content. No exact delisting hour is stated. Its earlier 40% promotion ended October 3, so do not treat that discount as available now. The cosmetics are worth considering only if you actually want them, not because the full game needs them.
The new Sandswept Highlands and Hollow Marsh give established farms somewhere else to expand. The Highlands bring desert plateaus, ruins and late-game resources; the marsh sits among their clifftops, with blue vegetation and red water. The final story journey reaches into the Highlands. These are substantial endgame destinations rather than a promise that every new character can immediately use all their resources.
Automation gets a practical redesign. Automation Pipes take over the connecting role of Automators, and compatible storage can feed crafting directly. Pipes consume energy, so simplifying the layout does not remove its running costs. Storage filters let you control accepted resources, while one crafting station can cycle through up to three recipes. Existing Automators remain on older saves, although they no longer form part of the normal unlock progression.
Progression adds Milestones 13 and 14, new equipment and the flying Skyblazer Transform Mode. Earlier unlocks are being rearranged, including faster access to automation. Deliveries need fewer separate interactions and can be queued together. Research Initiatives also become single-player deliveries to Prometheus Station, removing the need to wait for other players to contribute before earning those Mods.
Crop rotation should be easier to read: planting previews show the expected result, and mutated harvests provide normal crops as well. Higher-level tools add options such as stacking several seeds in one mound. For builders, Planning Mode lays down holograms before resources are committed. If an old crafting setup loses its roof efficiency bonus after updating, check the roof placement: the developer has changed how that coverage is measured.
Difficulty presets make the intended experience clearer. Creative removes crafting and building costs, damage and threats; Relaxed removes damage and lengthens days. Balanced is the recommended starting point, while Challenging increases damage and makes knockout losses permanent. These choices also appear when loading an older save, and multiplayer world settings are controlled by the host. Agree on the rules before everyone starts investing time in a shared farm.

Existing saves carry over to 1.0 and can earn the new achievements. FRAME BREAK says a new save gives a more natural, better-flowing experience, but restarting is optional, and a farm caught up with the Automation Update can head straight into the endgame. The Legacy branch receives no changes. Check your branch before assuming the update is missing.
Moving from Xbox/Microsoft Store to Steam is a separate operation. The official workaround requires both copies: host a Shared copy from the Xbox version, then join it from Steam using the invite code. World progress, stored materials and buildings carry across, but personal inventory, crafted Mech Parts and Mods, loadouts and some missions do not. You are entering the world as a new character, not importing the whole character. Read the migration instructions before switching stores, and keep the original save.
Lightyear Frontier left Game Pass on March 15, 2026. That did not end Xbox sales or updates, but a past subscription download is not proof that you own the game. The current US Xbox page says cloud play is available with Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate and explicitly requires a game purchase. That streaming entitlement should not be mistaken for the game returning to the subscription catalogue.
The Xbox product supports Play Anywhere, so an eligible digital Xbox/Microsoft Store purchase covers its Xbox console and Windows versions under the same Microsoft account. That entitlement does not supply a Steam copy. Cross-platform co-op is listed, and the developer confirms Steam and Xbox/Microsoft Store players can meet. Shared Saves let invited players continue the farm when its original host is away.
The requirements below are the ones Steam lists ahead of the 1.0 update. The 10 GB figure is required free storage, not a verified download or patch size. No separate 1.0 preload schedule or exact update download was confirmed in the reviewed announcements. Leave room for patching, and use your launcher's actual download estimate when the update arrives.
Those targets are the developer's specifications, not our benchmark results. Neither table establishes performance in a large, heavily automated four-player farm. Steam lists a third-party EULA; inspect the store's current requirements for your chosen version rather than assuming another storefront's account or hardware rules apply. Native macOS, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are not part of this confirmed launch.

If your group is comparing different kinds of cooperative farming, the Loftia launch guide covers that game's MMO access and account rules. Do not carry those assumptions into this smaller co-op adventure: choose the game around the session you want to share, then check each player's platform and access separately.
For an existing owner, the sensible first step is to update and try the new progression or continue an established farm. For a new buyer, the base game makes more sense than optional extras unless their contents appeal to you. We have not played or benchmarked 1.0, so the ending, late-game balance, launch stability and co-op performance remain untested here. Wait for release-day reports if any of those would decide the purchase. Further major content and a fixed support duration remain unconfirmed.
