007 First Light now lets you try its opening Iceland mission free on Steam and Xbox, with the PS5 Starter Pack due on 10 November 2026. The main buying trap is the similarly named Deluxe Edition Upgrade: that cosmetic add-on does not unlock the full adventure.

The Starter Pack samples the beginning of IO Interactive’s James Bond origin story. Steam identifies it as a single-player demo, with achievements and Steam Cloud support. Its description reserves the entire story, Challenges and Tactical Simulations mode for the full version. Treat the download as a way to judge the controls and presentation before paying, rather than a giveaway of the complete game.

On Steam, select Install Demo on the separate 007 First Light Free Starter Pack page, or use the demo download section on the full-game page. The Xbox listing is marked Free and supports both Xbox Series X|S and PC, with an Xbox Play Anywhere badge. Pick the PC storefront you expect to keep using.
Xbox displays a 4 November release date, while Steam and the publisher’s announcement use 5 November. The listings establish current availability, but they do not explain that date difference. Do check the selected edition before confirming anything: the paid Standard and Deluxe bundles sit beside the free option.
The PS5 Free Starter Pack is announced for 10 November. Before then, PlayStation Plus Premium members can use a separate one-hour full-game trial. The PlayStation Store explicitly labels that route as a Premium benefit, so a subscription prompt today does not mean the forthcoming Starter Pack has become a paid product.
If your only reason for upgrading a subscription would be to sample this game, waiting for the Starter Pack is the more cautious choice. Existing Premium members can decide whether the current timed option is useful. IO Interactive has not supplied an exact PS5 Starter Pack unlock hour or time zone in the announcement, so check the local listing on the date rather than assuming midnight.
The publisher says progress from either the Starter Pack or the timed trial carries into a purchased full copy. That promise does not establish a transfer between Steam, Xbox and PlayStation. Our advice is to keep the same account and storefront when buying, retain the save, and verify any proposed platform move before spending money. A lower price elsewhere is less helpful if it changes where you must continue.

These are US-dollar storefront snapshots checked on 6 November, not worldwide price promises. Offers differ by edition even within one store, so the largest percentage in a news announcement is not enough to choose a purchase. Check the price in your account’s region and the exact product name at checkout.
The publisher and storefronts do not explain the PlayStation deadline discrepancy. Do not plan around the extra days unless the store updates its terms. Try the sample before letting a discount decide for you.
The Steam Deluxe Edition Upgrade costs US$19.99 and explicitly requires the base game. Xbox lists its equivalent at US$11.99 during the current offer, also with a separate-game requirement. These add-ons supply four outfits, four gadget skins and a weapon skin. They are different purchases from the full Deluxe Edition bundle, which includes the game.
These are Steam’s listed minimum requirements, not a measured download size or a performance guarantee; its recommended specification is higher. Check the installer’s actual space demand before starting, especially on a smaller SSD. The page does not list native macOS or Linux requirements.

The reviewed announcement gives no Starter Pack expiry date, and it does not establish free-pack availability on Epic Games Store or Nintendo Switch 2. Absence of a stated deadline is not a promise that the offer will remain forever.
If you are comparing this with other free access this weekend, our Xbox Free Play Days November 5–8 guide covers separate subscription and cutoff rules. Each offer has its own terms.
