SULFUR is scheduled to leave Steam Early Access and launch on consoles on 28 October 2026. The single-player shooter mixes dangerous expeditions with equipment management; the important launch distinction is that version 1.0 is not a multiplayer release.

Perfect Random’s October announcement names all seven platforms for the same launch date. The studio describes the releases as simultaneous, but the material reviewed does not specify an unlock hour. Readers in Europe, the Americas and Asia should use their own platform’s product page rather than convert an assumed midnight release into local time.
At 06:31 UTC on 28 October, Steam still showed Early Access and US$24.99. Its 28 October 2024 release date marks the start of Early Access, not today’s full launch.

For most first-time players, the base game is the relevant purchase. Pay extra for the music only if you actually want it; the soundtrack listing explicitly does not include the base game when bought separately. Console prices were not consistently displayed across the regional pages checked. Confirm the total on your own account before paying; the announced dollar increase is not a price list for every console and country.
The launch update completes progression from beginning to end, adds a digital quest log and finishes the combined-enchantment system with five additional combinations. Returning players should note the developer’s explicit limit: 1.0 does not add new areas for veterans. Multiplayer is planned for later, without a confirmed delivery date; do not buy two copies expecting co-op now.
The underlying appeal is the risk of each expedition, not simply collecting a longer gun list. In his PlayStation demo explanation, Perfect Random CEO Anton Albiin describes caves that change after death or extraction, cooking recipes that are recorded once discovered, and uninsured equipment lost on death. Some money returns through the church collection box, providing a route to re-equipping rather than a guarantee that a failed run costs nothing.
That makes the demo useful for a specific question: do you enjoy preparing, improvising and deciding when the next room is not worth the risk? The 2025 PlayStation demo explanation described more than 20 guns and the possibility of finding rare equipment. Those are details of the demo, not a promise that a short trial represents the full campaign’s length, balance or late-game difficulty.

Steam and PlayStation list free demos, while the Xbox demo page specifically lists Xbox Series X|S. Do not infer an Xbox One demo from the full game’s Xbox One support. On PlayStation, separate PS4 and PS5 demo entries appear in the catalogue; select the one for the machine you intend to test. A demo is a separate product, so check that the item you install or buy is the full game when you are ready to continue.
Xbox Wire’s launch-week schedule labels SULFUR with Smart Delivery, but does not announce it as a Game Pass or Xbox Play Anywhere release. The PlayStation page’s cloud-streaming membership condition likewise should not be read as confirmation that the game is included in the PlayStation Plus catalogue. Treat subscription inclusion, remote streaming and ownership as different questions; our Xbox Cloud Playtime guide explains why a streaming allowance is not the same as a game entitlement.
These are the developer’s published requirements, not measured frame-rate targets. Leave room for the actual download and any update shown by your platform; a minimum storage figure is not a preload announcement. We have not verified a preload window or a final download size for every console, and the Nintendo estimates changed between checks. Use the installation screen’s current requirement rather than treating a cached number as a guarantee.

Some useful improvements predate 1.0. According to the patch notes for the earlier Dungeons & Magic update, it added inventory quick-sort: P on keyboard or the right-stick button on a controller sorts the selected grid, with repeated presses switching top and bottom alignment. Gameplay options also let you choose where newly collected items are placed. Revisit those settings before assuming that a crowded inventory still needs the same amount of manual rearranging.
The same notes list a highlight for valid crafting combinations and an item-size grid when something cannot fit in your inventory, as well as reduced scope effects and an option to disable the scope vignette. These are practical settings to inspect in the current build, not newly announced launch bonuses; they may matter more to a returning player’s comfort than another weapon description.
Patch 0.19.8 subsequently changed weapon experience distribution to reflect the weapons involved in a kill, including guns used before a melee finish. It also changed accidental drops between inventory grids at shops, stashes and service stations, while the backpack-only behaviour remained different. If an old habit produces an unexpected result, check the relevant controls and current patch notes before assuming that every inventory screen handles an item identically.
SULFUR is a stronger candidate for someone seeking a solo, equipment-focused shooter than for a group looking for its next co-op game. Try the available demo to judge whether repeated expeditions and equipment risk suit you, then choose the full product for your actual hardware. This guide is based on official announcements and store information, not hands-on testing: campaign quality, launch stability and platform-specific performance remain reasons to wait for independent testing if they determine your purchase.
