Assassin's Creed Valhalla now has New Game+ through its free November 5, 2026 update, but you must finish the Holy Day quest before starting a replay. The update also opens Divine gear upgrades to players without Dawn of Ragnarok, while several progression improvements work without restarting your adventure.

The Most Requested Update is a patch for the existing adventure, rather than a separate edition to buy. Ubisoft released it at 14:00 UTC, which was 9 a.m. Eastern and 6 a.m. Pacific on November 5. Current and previous-generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles are covered, alongside PC.
Its main additions are New Game+, a new upgrade material called Mithril, expanded Rune Forge options and a Stash in Ravensthorpe. There is also a free Master Assassin Naoe outfit and two new achievements. PS5 Pro receives upgraded PSSR support, but the gameplay additions are not exclusive to that console.
Complete Holy Day, the final quest in the Hamtunscire region, on the save you intend to use. Ubisoft explicitly places this requirement before the true ending, so reaching the last possible story scene is not the stated unlock condition.
Ubisoft's preview describes carrying over much of your progression, which stops short of promising all of it. Its launch articles do not provide an exhaustive carryover checklist for quests, collectibles and every inventory category. Keep a separate manual save before choosing a replay, and read any confirmation screen rather than assuming your completed world will remain unchanged.

Each successive New Game+ run becomes harder. That makes the mode a better fit for someone who wants to revisit the campaign with an established character than for someone who simply wants to finish outstanding activities. You can continue using the new endgame systems without committing to another full story run.
During New Game+, collecting gear you already own or revisiting an acquired Book of Knowledge awards Mithril instead. Ubisoft also lists the Niflheim, Mastery and River Raid shops as sources, giving existing endgame saves a route to the resource. The higher Divine gear upgrades use Mithril, with the maximum upgrade level rising from 13 to 27.
The Xbox announcement specifies that Wealth Chests replace Carbon, Nickel and Tungsten rewards with Platinum during New Game+. Platinum was previously associated with Dawn of Ragnarok, but the patch now allows Divine-quality upgrades without owning that expansion. The shorter Ubisoft overview is less explicit about the chest condition, so do not assume every chest in an ordinary save has changed.

The Rune Forge now upgrades lesser runes to normal, then normal to greater, using silver. The new Superior tier uses Mithril instead. Its expanded engraving selection includes more than 300 runes, covering perks from equipment released since launch, including expansion and Helix Store items.
That does not give every player every paid perk. Ubisoft says you must acquire the relevant weapon or complete armor set before its perk can be engraved. The listed engraving cost is 450 silver. Check what you already own before buying a pack for a particular combination, and distinguish engraving from upgrading a rune to Superior.
The optional progression mode makes gear upgrades, runes and masteries contribute to Power. Detailed patch notes call it Extended Progression Mode, while the overview calls it Enhanced Progression Mode; both describe the same optional gear-based change. The developer interview confirms this mode, Divine upgrades and the expanded rune systems are available without New Game+.

For inventory cleanup, visit the new Stash in Ravensthorpe to store gear and runes. That is useful even if a replay is not on your agenda. The patch also adjusts weapon attacks, skill values and masteries, so test a familiar build before investing heavily in a revised loadout.
Ubisoft says upgraded PSSR delivers sharper reconstructed 4K image quality and a 60fps Quality mode on PS5 Pro. This is a publisher description, not an independently measured performance result. It does not establish a new 4K/60fps mode for standard PS5, PS4 or Xbox hardware. Ubisoft also lists a 30fps Low Energy Mode for PS5 and PS5 Pro.
These are patch sizes, not the total installed size of the base game and expansions. Allow space for installation work as well as the download. Ubisoft's list does not give a separate Epic Games Store figure, so use that launcher's displayed requirement instead of treating Steam's number as universal.
For another current example of a free update with separate paid extras, the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Year Two guide explains which additions belong to its update and which require a pass.
The launch material does not settle every New Game+ carryover detail or prove performance on every configuration. If preserving a particular quest state or collectible matters more than replaying immediately, wait for a detailed support explanation or inspect any in-game warning first. This guide is based on official announcements and images, not hands-on testing.
